Samsung washers show a two-character code (older models) or a longer one on the display. Here's what each common code means and how to fix it.
4C / 4E
Means: Water supply problem — the washer isn't filling.
Fix: Check both taps are on, the inlet hoses aren't kinked, and clean the mesh filters where the hoses connect to the washer.
5C / 5E
Means: Drain error — water isn't draining.
Fix: Clean the debris filter at the bottom-front, and make sure the drain hose is clear and not more than 3-4 ft above the floor.
3C / 3E
Means: Motor / tachometer fault.
Fix: Unplug for a minute to reset. If it returns, the load may be jammed or the motor connector loose — service is usually needed.
dC / dE
Means: Door isn't locked or won't lock.
Fix: Press the door firmly shut. Check nothing (laundry, seal) blocks it; a worn door latch triggers a persistent dC.
UB / Ub
Means: Unbalanced load during spin.
Fix: Redistribute the laundry evenly and make sure the washer is level on all four feet.
LC / LE
Means: Water leak detected.
Fix: Check hose connections and the door seal; the drain hose end sitting too low can also siphon water and trigger LC.
tE / tE1
Means: Temperature sensor error.
Fix: Unplug to reset. A persistent tE points to a faulty thermistor that needs replacing.
